Lizzo joined a band called rock-prog where she sang as well as played flute. Her family relocated to Denver and she was in her own space, striving to make Houston her new home. Lizzo lived in her car and occasionally slept on the floor in her studio. She also went to the gym for showers at the fitness center. When Lizzo was 20years old, her father passed away. They had been close, and it was a tragic loss. Following the death of her father she left the prog rock band. Following a brief stop in Denver, Lizzo moved to Minneapolis in 2011 at the invitation of a friend. Lizzo quickly found herself in the center of the Minneapolis music scene. She was part of the girl groups Chalice, GRRRL PRTY. Her first album Lizzobangers was released in 2013 on an independent label.
